June 14, 2006 Arizona Hiking Trip. On June 14th, Mission 180 took the plunge and took a group of adults and youth to the Grand Canyon for a 4 day hiking/camping trip. As the trip started early (3 am) on Wednesday morning the 8 of us were tired, unsure and excited all at the same time. The 4 young men who took the journey to Arizona were given an opportunity to let their guard down, be kids but at the same time be guided in their development as men. As the trip wore on so did their "tough bravado", as one adult on the trip noted. Experiencing and facing challenges they would not get otherwise these young men slowly came out of their shell and allowed change, however small, to take place on them as a person, their outlook on life, facing tough choices and challenges & how to overcome obstacles. The trip ended as it began; everyone tired, unsure and excited but for much different reasons. > View all articles |
