Hoops with a Mission. What do you get when you cross 4 basketball teams in a hot sweaty gym? Empowerment! This summer Mission 180 teamed with the Champaign Park District in order to create competitive basketball teams. With 4 volunteer coaches and about 40 youth, Hoops with a Mission instilled teamwork, self-motivation, self-control, and pride! These guys did a great job! Parents and friends came to cheer their sons on and dance a little in the bleachers. The Championship night, 105.5 DJ Supa filled the gym with music, while the championship game played out, 3 point shooters took each other on, and the staff won the staff vs. all-star team game. The old men pulled it out, amazing! The next weekend participants and their families set down for an award's dinner at Douglas Center and listened to the encouraging words of Coach Wayne McClain, assistant U of I basketball coach, and received their awards. > View all articles
